Submitted by Yunnan Tengchong Volcanic Geothermal Investment and Development Co., Ltd., this tourism area is a pilgrimage site for hot springs in China and a national popular science education base. It perfectly integrates volcanic geological wonders with hot spring wellness, blessed with geothermal resources gifted from deep within the Earth. The hot springs here are mostly sulfur springs, naturally welling up from sources like Drumming Spring and Pearl Spring and converging together. The iconic landmark “Big Boiling Pot” has a water temperature as high as 96.6°C, with blue water jets at the spring’s center resembling boiling sapphires, offering a visually striking spectacle.

The Beauty Pool hot spring within the area, also known as the Immortal’s Bath, absorbs the essence of multiple spring sources. Its water is smooth and soft, known for beautifying the skin and dispelling wind-dampness. It features various soaking pools including a natural swimming pool and cave bathing pools. Visitors can experience the unique “Three Rolls of Volcanic Hot Springs” ritual: first viewing distinctive boiling spring landscapes like the Frog’s Mouth and Pearl Spring, then tasting geothermal-cooked foods like hot spring steamed eggs, and finally relaxing in the warm springs. Additionally, the area offers wellness programs such as the water cupping experience and Golden Soup foot baths. The water cupping uses the spring’s high temperature and negative pressure to expel cold-dampness from the body, while the Golden Soup foot bath helps relieve hiking fatigue. These are paired with experiences like DIY volcanic stone bracelets and pine flower cakes, allowing visitors to deeply engage with local geology and folk culture while enjoying hot spring wellness. Annual visitor numbers consistently rank among the highest in Tengchong’s scenic areas.
