Time:2025-12-19 16:02

Located in Gaopo Miao Ethnic Township, Huaxi District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, this route is a premium mountain hiking trail in Southwest China released in 2021. Featuring "intertwined plateau grasslands and canyon secrets + immersive Miao cultural experiences," it relies on Gaopo Township’s unique karst mountain landforms and ethnic cultural resources to create multiple differentiated hiking routes, catering to hiking enthusiasts with diverse needs.

The core routes of the hiking line include two premium loops:

  1. Raorao Village - Hongyan Canyon Easy Hiking Route: Spanning 3-5 kilometers and taking approximately 1.5 hours, this low-difficulty route is suitable for families and beginners. Starting from Raorao Village Camping Base (with the entrance next to the camping base’s restrooms), the trail mainly consists of wooden boardwalks. Hikers can admire the stunning views of sheer cliffs on both sides, and upon reaching the summit, they will arrive at Raorao Village Observation Platform, offering panoramic views of plateau farmland intertwined with canyons. Simple rest points are available along the way, and the route ends back at the camping base, where visitors can enjoy leisure activities such as barbecues and experience rural fun.
  2. Shimen Beautiful Pastoral - Yunding Grassland Hiking Route: Covering 10 kilometers and taking 3-4 hours, this medium-difficulty route starts from Shimen Beautiful Pastoral, passes through purple verbena flower seas, and climbs along mountain trails to Yunding Grassland, connecting scenic nodes such as terraced fields, streams, and Miao villages. The flower seas in Shimen Beautiful Pastoral are exquisite and romantic, with winding paths reserved for photography. Yunding Grassland showcases a wild and free plateau landscape, where verbena blends with alpine meadows, backed by large windmill groups, creating a northern frontier-like atmosphere. Visitors can experience the joy of horse riding across the grassland.

Cultural experience is a highlight of this route. Along the hike, visitors can explore Miao villages, feel the simplicity and hospitality of the Miao people, and taste local specialties such as wild mushroom hot pot, red rice, and free-range chicken. The route also connects the Red Army Long March Historical Trail and red memorial halls, allowing hiking activities combined with red research, enabling visitors to feel the footprints of revolutionary ancestors amid green mountains and fields. In terms of supporting facilities, tourist service centers, ecological toilets, and supply stations are available in major villages and scenic nodes along the route. Since its release in 2021, the local government has further improved the route’s signage and emergency rescue system, and launched special packages of "hiking + camping + stargazing." Yunding Grassland has become a renowned stargazing camping destination, making the hiking experience more rich and diverse.
