On July 17, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China announced the results of the 2025 annual assessment and evaluation of social organizations. The International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) was rated as "Excellent." This marks the second time IMTA has received this honor, following its previous recognition in 2023. The rating fully affirms IMTA's achievements in recent years in areas such as Party building, institutional development, professional operations, industry service, and capacity building.

The IMTA is a non-governmental, non-profit international organization approved by the State Council of China, registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and administered by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. It was initiated and established by Guizhou Province. Since its official inauguration on August 15, 2017, IMTA has undergone nine years of development. As the only international organization globally focused on mountain tourism, the IMTA has always adhered to its mission of "protecting mountain resources, preserving mountain civilization, promoting mountain economy, prospering mountain communities, and committing to sustainable mountain tourism development." Guided by the IMTA Statute, the IMTA is rooted in Guizhou, radiates across China, and influences the world. It continues to deepen theoretical innovation and practical exploration in mountain tourism, promote exchanges and cooperation within the industry, facilitate mutual learning and win-win outcomes among civilizations, and actively participate in the development of the global tourism governance system. Up to now, the members of IMTA include 210 groups and individuals from 40 countries and regions across six continents, including 117 domestic institutions, 82 overseas institutions and 11 individuals.
