IMTA was Invited to Attend "Nepal-China Sagarmatha (Mount Everest) Adventure Festival"

On June 12th, 2026, at the invitation of the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, Liu Zhaohui, Vice Chairman of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA), together with IMTA member representatives — Nanjing Seven Summits And Two Poles Network Co., Ltd. (Huway.com) and Guizhou Tourism Industry Development Group Co., Ltd. — attended the 73rd "Nepal-China Sagarmatha (Mount Everest) Adventure Festival" held in Beijing. Taking this event as an opportunity, Liu Zhaohui engaged in in-depth exchanges on mountain tourism development and cooperation with foreign guests including H.E. Hussam Al Husseini, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the People’s Republic of China, and Hon'ble Ms. Indira Ranamagar, Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal.

This year's Adventure Festival brought together approximately 200 participants, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, foreign embassies of various countries in China, international organizations, and tourism-related enterprises. In her speech at the event, Mrs. Roshan Khanal, Chargé d'Affaires, Minister , Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Nepal in China highlighted the significance of Mount Everest, the spirit of adventure, and Nepal's position as the heart of the Himalayan climbing community. She also emphasized that the event will contribute to fostering people-to-people relations between Nepal and China. Hon'ble Mr. Khadak Raj Paudel, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, called via video message to save the great mountains in order to save human life and the future of humanity. Hon'ble Mr. Mingma Gyabu Sherpa, Member of the House of Representatives of Nepal and Everest Summiteer, shed light on Nepal's tremendous potential and encouraged deeper cooperation between Nepal and China for bilateral tourism exchanges. Similarly, Mr. Phur Gelje Sherpa, President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, called for joint cross-border initiatives to promote mountaineering tourism in Nepal. The programme also featured tourism promotion presentations and cultural performances. More than 50 Sagarmatha summiteers from Nepal and China shared their experiences and were felicitated.
