In 2023, the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) initiated the formulation of the World Famous Tourism Mountain - Recognition Standards and World Famous Tourism Mountain - Recognition Guidelines. This initiative aims to promote the protection and utilization of mountain tourism resources through the evaluation and recognition of world-class mountain tourism destinations, establish the authority of "World Famous Tourism Mountains," and provide a reference basis for global tourists seeking high-quality mountain tourism destinations. The "Recognition Standards" categorize World Famous Tourism Mountains into two major types: "Nature-Oriented" and "Culture-Oriented," and outline the "comprehensive supporting services" conditions required for such recognition.
