On September 26th, the 2024 IMTA Annual Conference of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance was inaugurated in Xingyi City, Guizhou Province. The theme of the annual meeting is "Inclusiveness, Mutual Learning, Innovation—Empowering Sustainable Mountain Tourism with New Quality Productive Forces". It will gather the wisdom of all members and the strength of the industry to explore and share innovative development paths for high-quality and sustainable mountain tourism in the context of the new era, and empower the new quality productivity of mountain tourism. At the meeting, the Alliance presented certificates to 11 new member units, including the Chungcheongnam-do Tourism Association of South Korea, the Nepal Gandaki Trekking Association, and the Aragon Tourism Bureau of Spain, which joined this year. This has brought closer industry connections and further expanded the "international family".
So far, the number of IMTA members has increased from the initial 126 groups and individuals to the current 199, covering 118 domestic members and 81 overseas members. The membership team is growing and the membership structure and layout are further optimized, including tourism agencies, non-profit organizations, tourism-related enterprises, relevant consulting institutions, tourism professional colleges, airlines, equipment manufacturing enterprises, outdoor sports organizations, etc. in mountain tourism countries and regions around the world, forming a comprehensive and multi-level international mountain tourism cooperation and exchange platform.
IMTA awarded certificates to new members
Since its establishment, IMTA has successfully gone through seven years of development and played a unique role in participating in and promoting the sustainable development of global mountain tourism. 2024 is a crucial year for the tourism industry to move from recovery to sustainable prosperity. The annual conference of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance, held in this context, will provide new momentum for promoting high-quality and sustainable development of mountain tourism through the concept of inclusiveness, mutual learning and innovation.
