On the morning of September 15, the Annual Conference of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance 2023 with the theme of "Tountain Tourism Resource Innovation and Destination Construction" was held in Xingyi City, Guizhou province. At the Conference, Fu Yingchun, Vice Chairman and Executive Secretary of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance(IMTA), announced that the 2024 International Mountain Tourism Day theme event will be held in the town of Blanc Saint-Quan in the city of Saint-Gervailleban, France, and Dominique de Villepin, Chairman of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance, presented the International Mountain Tourism Day 2024 theme event venue.
The International Mountain Tourism Day was officially launched at the International Mountain Tourism Alliance Annual Conference 2018 and has been successfully held for four times, becoming an influential cooperation and exchange platform for the tourism industry.
The theme of the International Mountain Tourism Day 2019 was successfully held in Kathmandu, Nepal, with the theme of "Ecology, Green and Science and Technology Lead the High-quality Development of Mountain Tourism", marking a solid step in the establishment of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance platform. In 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alliance held an online forum on the International Mountain Tourism Day with the theme of "Pandemic Crisis and Challenges and Opportunities Facing Mountain Tourism", becoming the first international organization to hold an online tourism forum within the background of the pandemic. In 2021, for the first time, the Alliance selected Jinfo Mountain in Nanchuan District of Chongqing City, as the venue for the theme activities of the International Mountain Tourism Day, and successfully held the World Heritage Mountain (Jinfo Mountain) Summit with the theme of "World Heritage Protection and Green Development of Mountain Tourism". In 2022, the Alliance held the theme Tourism Day activity of "Mountain Tourism Advocating Healthy life and civilized Exchange" for the first time through online and offline linkage and global live broadcast, and about 3.5 million people around the world participated in the activity through the live broadcast platform. 2023 is the year of tourism recovery, the theme events of 2023 International Mountain Tourism Day was launched in Vientiane, Laos, jointly organized by the International Mountain Tourism Alliance(IMTA), the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos (MICT), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the Global Tourism Economic Forum (GTEF) and other organizations, with the theme of "Enjoying the Wonder of Mountains, Sharing the Beauty of Life, Revitalize the Tourism Industry". To discuss tourism supply and market development strategies, regional economic cooperation and new opportunities for mountain tourism development.
Fu Yingchun introduced that in June this year, the International Mountain Tourism Alliance lunched the official call-up for the host venue of International Mountain Tourism Day 2024, after three months of collection, expert research, field visits and other steps, finally decided that France's Saint-Quan town of Saint-Gervais City for the International Mountain Tourism Day 2024 theme event venue.
