Data released by Uzbekistan's State Statistics Committee on March 26 local time shows that approximately 1.3 million foreign tourists entered the country for tourism purposes in the first two months of this year, marking an increase of 361,200 compared to the same period last year. Among them, Chinese tourists reached 14,000.
The data indicates that foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan primarily originate from neighboring Central Asian countries. Kyrgyzstan emerged as the largest source market, contributing 422,600 visitors. Tajikistan and Kazakhstan followed as the second and third largest source markets, with 401,400 and 199,000 visitors respectively. Additionally, visitor numbers from Russia, Turkmenistan, Turkey, China, India, and other countries demonstrated steady growth.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has continuously strengthened its support for the tourism industry. Through multiple initiatives such as simplifying visa procedures, improving infrastructure, and building the Silk Road cultural tourism brand, the country has actively enhanced its appeal to tourists. Since introducing a 10-day visa-free policy for Chinese tourists, exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector have deepened continuously. China is gradually becoming an important emerging source market for Uzbekistan.
