On December 30, an immersive sightseeing experience featuring panoramic drones launched spectacularly in Zhangjiajie, Hunan. Visitors could personally operate drones to navigate through the sea of clouds and towering peaks in a 360-degree first-person perspective, embodying characters from the movie Avatar and reveling in the awe-inspiring freedom of aerial sightseeing.
At the event, visitors donned VR goggles under the guidance of professional pilots, receiving real-time 8K panoramic HD footage transmitted by the drones. With a simple turn of their heads, they could freely switch viewing angles, taking in Zhangjiajie's breathtaking landscapes. Combined with the “virtual cockpit” feature, participants experienced an immersive, fantastical visual journey akin to “riding a dragon through the skies.”

“It's like having wings and soaring through the sky—I've never seen the scenery from this perspective before,” exclaimed an excited visitor after the experience. According to reports, this project leverages cutting-edge digital technology to seamlessly integrate animated elements into the real mountain landscape, creating a dreamlike flight experience reminiscent of Pandora from Avatar.
The “Shadowwing Antigravity” drone deployed for this application is the first drone product supporting real-time 8K panoramic image transmission. Relying on core technologies like intelligent flight path planning, it achieves safe and stable flight in Zhangjiajie's complex mountainous terrain, providing reliable technical support for visitors' immersive experiences.
Currently, with the ongoing advancement of China's low-altitude airspace management reforms and the continuous emergence of new products and technologies like panoramic drones, the integration of the low-altitude economy with the cultural tourism industry is growing increasingly tight, giving rise to numerous novel consumption scenarios. New business models represented by “low-altitude + sightseeing experiences” are gradually becoming important vehicles for the innovative development of the cultural tourism industry.
Industry observers note that the implementation of Zhangjiajie's panoramic drone sightseeing project represents a forward-looking practice in the deep integration of low-altitude economy and cultural tourism, injecting robust technological momentum into the sector's high-quality development.
