The 2025 Maritime Silk Road International Cultural Tourism Festival is being held from Dec 11 to 15 in Quanzhou, Fujian province, presenting a global cultural and tourism celebration rooted in the Maritime Silk Road and Minnan (southern Fujian) heritage.
The festival features 10 major events across three sections: Vitalizing Intangible Cultural Heritage, Global Harmony, and China-Chic Consumption.
Under the Vitalizing Intangible Cultural Heritage section, the festival highlights the exhibitions and performances from nearly 20 countries along the Maritime Silk Road, including Myanmar puppetry, Indian embroidery, and British wood carving. These international displays will be presented alongside domestic intangible heritage items from different provinces, illustrating a rich dialogue of civilizations across borders.
The Global Harmony section focuses on cultural exchange, heritage revitalization, and the integration of culture and tourism. Events such as the Quanzhou International Nanyin Symposium and Quanzhou International Puppet Festival aim to create an international platform to promote the preservation and innovative development of Nanyin and puppetry arts.
The events under the China-Chic Consumption section, such as the Fujian Tourism Expo, include strategic dialogues, cooperation agreements, resource promotion, and product exhibitions, inspiring cultural and tourism organizations across the province to create tangible cultural and commercial value and boost consumer participation.
