November 24, 2025, Porto, Portugal — To welcome the Christmas season, the WOW Porto Cultural District will once again transform into a magical realm. From November 22nd to January 6th, the district will be illuminated with 7.5 kilometers of festive lights, becoming a real-life Christmas wonderland. Alongside the dazzling light displays, there will be themed markets, children's entertainment, specialty food tastings, and a series of wonderful experiences suitable for the whole family.
The Highly Anticipated Lighting Ceremony
The "WOW, Christmas is Here" series of activities officially commenced on November 22nd, highlighted by the traditional Christmas lighting ceremony. At 6:30 PM that day, the 13-meter-high Christmas tree in the main square was lit up, marking the official start of the Christmas season at the WOW Porto Cultural District with a visual feast of light, color, and emotion.
The event featured a variety of entertainment programs, musical performances, and special acts. Guests also enjoyed warm drinks and snacks like hot chocolate and mulled wine, continuing this cozy holiday tradition.
To extend the celebration, the WOW Porto Cultural District specially introduced two culinary experiences: VP Restaurant created a themed dinner for family gatherings, while the 1828 Steakhouse, in collaboration with Geographic Wines, presented a wine dinner. These offerings provide ideal options whether seeking family fun or an intimate evening for two.

Santa's Visit: The Pinnacle of the Festivities
On December 7th, Santa Claus will make a surprise appearance at the WOW Porto Cultural District, initiating the second iconic moment of the Christmas season. At 4:30 PM, the white-bearded figure, accompanied by his elves, will meet everyone in the main square for a moment of magical and joyful interaction.
Christmas Atmosphere Throughout the District
Christmas decorations and lights will adorn every corner of the WOW Porto Cultural District. The Santa's Grotto and children's area, located next to the main ticket office on the fourth floor, will be open until December 23rd, offering children a free play area filled with fun games and magical experiences.
The street market will transform into a Christmas-themed market, gathering various handicrafts and specialty gifts. The central square will host a food market offering winter seasonal and holiday-specific delicacies.
A classic carousel will also be set up in the main square, welcoming visitors of all ages to relive their childhood and immerse themselves in the colorful, dreamlike scene. Additionally, the "World of Bricks" exhibition at the Atkinson Museum is worth a visit, showcasing numerous LEGO® brick artworks, including many new creations inspired by Porto's cityscape and Christmas themes.
Festive gatherings are naturally complemented by good food. VP Restaurant will host several themed family brunches, including a LEGO® theme on November 30th, and Christmas themes on December 7th and 21st, allowing families to enjoy warm moments together in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
