The Indian government recently announced that it has notified its embassies and consulates worldwide to fully resume issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens, marking a new phase towards normalized personnel exchanges between the two countries.
The full resumption of these visas began in July 2025, when India started issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens on a limited basis for the first time in five years, processed only through its embassies and consulates in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. According to a previous statement from the Chinese Consul General in Mumbai, over 80,000 visas had been issued by October. The new policy now expands the processing scope to India's global network of embassies and consulates, providing greater convenience for Chinese citizens traveling to India.

Positive developments have also emerged in the aviation sector. IndiGo launched a daily direct flight from Delhi to Guangzhou on November 10, while Air India plans to commence a New Delhi to Shanghai route, operating four times weekly, starting February 1, 2026, and has already completed the deployment of the booking system for this route. With these dual positive developments in visa and aviation policies, the Indian tourism industry is anticipating an increase in visitors from China.
