On November 5, the Jilin Province (Changbai Mountain) Hangzhou Snow and Ice Theme Promotion Conference, themed “Journey to Changbai in Zhejiang, Share the Snowy Passion with Hangzhou,” was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Through resource promotion, influencer sharing, cooperation agreements, and dual-city collaboration, the event comprehensively showcased Changbai Mountain's new tourism formats, scenarios, and experiences in winter travel.
Located within the world's golden snow latitude belt, Changbai Mountain stands as one of the world's three premier powder snow destinations alongside North America's Rocky Mountains and Europe's Alps. Renowned for its “abundant snowfall, extended snow season, and exceptional snow quality,” it has long been hailed as a “skiing paradise.”
Zhejiang is one of the key source markets for Changbai Mountain's winter tourism. Data shows that during the 2024-2025 snow season, Changbai Mountain scenic area welcomed a cumulative total of 82,800 visitors from Zhejiang, marking a 34.2% year-on-year increase.
Wang Tao, Deputy Director of the Changbai Mountain Protection Development Management Committee and Member of the Party Working Committee, explained that in recent years, Changbai Mountain has continuously promoted the transformation and upgrading of its winter tourism from “scenic spot tourism” to “all-area vacationing.” The region has systematically introduced ten new winter tourism experiences, including: - Powder Snow Skiing - Snowfall Hot Springs - Snow Valley Trekking - Tea Brewing Around the Fire - Snow Off-Road Adventures - Changbai Mountain·Golden 1172 - Magical Cat Winter - Flying Over Changbai Mountain - Romantic Travel Photography - Rime Ice Rafting
The ten new attractions form a cohesive system capable of meeting the diverse needs of different visitor groups, helping extend the destination's appeal from a winter hotspot to year-round prosperity," said Wang Tao.
At the event, Qiao Hao, the chief curator of Changbai Mountain's mountain sports tourism, shared his journey from outdoor enthusiast to becoming a “new Changbai Mountain resident.”
