According to forecasts from the Ministry of Transport, inter-regional trips across China during this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday are expected to reach 687 million, representing an increase of approximately 7.7% compared to the same period last year.
The Ministry of Transport predicts that due to the short duration of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, road travel will be characterized primarily by medium and short-distance self-drive trips. It is estimated that the daily average proportion of passenger cars on national expressways will exceed 98%.
Yang Feng, Division Chief of the Transport Operation Division at the Ministry of Transport's Road Network Monitoring and Emergency Response Center: "During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the daily average expressway traffic volume is expected to exceed 40 million vehicles, an increase of about 20% compared to usual days and a projected increase of around 3% year-on-year."
In response to the anticipated surge in traffic, the Ministry of Transport is actively guiding local authorities to improve traffic flow management on congested sections, strengthen the deployment of rescue resources like tow trucks, and ensure adequate charging service capacity at service areas.
Yang Feng, Division Chief of the Transport Operation Division at the Ministry of Transport's Road Network Monitoring and Emergency Response Center: "During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, it is estimated that around 8 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) will be driving on expressways daily, representing an increase of approximately one-third compared to the same period last year."
