Hong Kong attracted more than 25 million tourists in the first seven months of the year, a 52 percent year-on-year increase, and the number of visitors from outside mainland China also shot up by 71 percent.
The seven-month figure included about 19.3 million mainland tourists, up 47.3 percent, year on year. The number of non-mainland travelers reached about 5.8 million, a 71.1 percent increase from the figure recorded between January to July in 2023.
There were 1.6 million visitors from long-haul flights, 362,000 of them from new markets. The new markets sector covers India, Russia, the Netherlands, Vietnam, and six Arab countries.
