The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey recently announced that the number of Turkish tourists in the first half of 2024 increased by 13.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching 26.1 million. The tourism revenue in Turkey increased by 9.3%, reaching $23.7 billion.
Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that the outstanding performance of tourism in the first six months of this year has given a strong boost to Turkey's year-end goal of 60 million tourists and 60 billion US dollars in revenue. Turkey has achieved strong growth in traditional key target markets such as Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom. In the first half of this year, more than 2.7 million Russian tourists chose Turkey as a holiday destination, achieving a 3% growth. The United Kingdom is Turkey's third largest market, with nearly 1.8 million British tourists visiting Turkey, a 19% increase. It is noteworthy that Turkey has achieved the largest growth in the Chinese market, receiving more than 187,000 tourists, a 111% increase compared to the same period last year. In addition, the growth momentum of the Japanese source market has also accelerated significantly. In the first six months of 2024, more than 56,000 Japanese tourists visited Turkey, an increase of 96% compared to the same period in 2023.
