On June 20th, data from the Japan National Tourism Organization showed that in May 2024, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Japan was about 540,000, recovering to about 72% of the same period in 2019, showing a steady upward trend.
Against this backdrop, the Japan National Tourism Organization recently held a tourism consultation meeting in Beijing after a five-year hiatus. Ichiro Takahashi, the director of the Japan Tourism Agency, said at the meeting that various regions in Japan are working to explore and refine their local inherent tourism charm, hoping that Chinese tourists can visit local cities in Japan.
