China logged 168 million entry and exit trips in the first half of 2023, up 48.8 percent from 2019, and saw a full recovery of travels between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) said on Wednesday.

In a breakdown of the trips, roughly 80 million entry and exit trips were made by Chinese mainland residents while around 75 million were made by residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 8.4 million by foreign nationals, the NIA data showed.

From January to June this year, China saw 53.8 percent more entry-exit transport vehicles than that in 2019, hitting 9.831 million, according to the NIA data.

Among them, 204,000 were plane flights, 191,000 vessel travels, 44,000 trains and 9.4 million automobiles.

"We've fully resumed the customs clearance at ports between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, have orderly restored passenger service at 61 land border ports and have piloted exits and entry for international cruise travelers in Shanghai and Shenzhen," said Zhang Ning, the NIA spokeswoman.
