Thursday, June 28

8:30 p.m.: There are so many things going on that the first event is scheduled for Thursday night, with the Full Moon Adventure Hike. Participants can join Ranger Jesse Sexton for a moonlight stroll on the Blue 2 Trail. The adventure will begin at Picnic Shelter 2. Cost is $3 per hiker and is limited to 12 participants. To register, call 772-0190.

Friday, June 29

9 a.m. Tthe Peg Leg Hike. This hike will provide information on the early history history of the area. The hike will begin at the Visitor’s Center.

11 a.m.: Future fishermen can get some tips with Backyard Bass. Children will learn how to cast with a fishing rod and learn about what might be caught inside the park. Equipment will be provided. The class will meet at Picnic Shelter 1.

2:30 p.m.: A bike safety class will be offered at the camper check-in station. Children will receive a short bike safety class, followed by a guided bike ride through the park to practice safe biking. Children should bring their bike and helmet.

3 p.m.: A class on “Doing Our Part” will take place at Picnic Shelter. It will feature a discussion about environmental stewardship and easy ways everyone can reduce their impact on the environment.

4 p.m.: Reptiles of Appalachia will begin in the welcome center. The class will be an introduction to the many reptiles that call East Tennessee home.

7:30 p.m.: Summer Concert Series: Stemwinders. The Stemwinders is a quartet of Northeast Tennessee musicians playing guitar, mandolin, bass and banjo. They sing and perform bluegrass, folk and other styles. The concert will be at the amphitheater. In case of rain, it will be held at Picnic Shelter 3. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

9:30 p.m.: Fireflies at the Farmstead. The Miller Farmstead provides the backdrop for watching lightning bugs performing their signature mating ritual.

Saturday, June 30.

A whole day of Independence Day Celebration activities will take place at the Camper Check in Station and the nearby playing field. The schedule of events:

9 a.m.: Bicycle decorating.

10 a.m.: Campground parade.

11 a.m.: Sack race.

11:30 a.m.: Sponge relay.

Noon: Watermelon seed spitting contest.

1:30 p.m.: Cornhole tournament.

2:30 p.m.: Wheelbarrow race.

3 p.m.: Water balloon volleyball.

4 p.m.: Tug-of-War.

7:30 p.m: Mystery Magic Show: How does he do it: It’s a mystery! This amazing magic show will have you gasping in wonder, scratching your head, and laughing out loud. Meet at the park amphitheater. In case of rain, the show will be at Picnic Shelter 3. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

9:30 p.m.: Fellowship campfire: Meet at the campfire ring near Picnic Shelter 3 for a campfire to end a fun day of festivities. S’mores supplies will be provided, so come hungry.

Sunday, July 1

9 a.m.: Tomahawk Toss: The tosses will be done at the campfire ring next to Picnic Shelter 3. Learn a little about the weapon and try your hand at tossing them.

10:30 a.m.: Morning at the Farmstead. Enjoy an easy morning at the Miller Farmstead by taking a stroll through the farmhouse and the surrounding property, learning the history of the land. The tour will begin at parking lot.
