On August 6, a delegation from Hongya County, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, led by Jiang Dingbo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hongya County Party Committee and Chairman of the County Federation of Trade Unions, visited the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA). The delegation toured the IMTA headquarters building and held discussions with IMTA Vice Chairman Liu Zhaohui and heads of Secretariat departments regarding Hongya's bid to host the "International Mountain Tourism Day 2026" (IMTD 2026) themed event.
Jiang Dingbo first expressed Hongya County's aspiration to join the IMTA as a member and its strong desire to host the IMTD 2026 event. He provided a systematic and comprehensive introduction to Hongya County and its core tourism resource, Mount Wawu, highlighting their outstanding advantages and unique value. Jiang emphasized that Hongya County, Meishan City, not only possesses the world-class resource of Mount Wawu but also boasts well-developed tourism infrastructure, extensive experience in hosting visitors, and strong support and policy commitment from the local government towards mountain tourism development. He expressed confidence in Hongya's ability to successfully host this high-profile international event.
During the meeting, representatives from the IMTA Secretariat introduced the delegation to the IMTA's background, the history and context of the IMTD initiative, the implementation of past themed events, the requirements for hosting IMTD events, and specific details regarding event organization and guest reception. They also addressed questions and specific matters related to the application and hosting process for IMTD.
In his concluding remarks, Vice Chairman Liu Zhaohui thanked the Hongya County delegation for their active bid to host the 2026 IMTD event. He stated that "International Mountain Tourism Day," as one of IMTA's most valuable brand activities, has been successfully held for seven consecutive years since its inception. Each edition, featuring distinctive themes, rich content, and forward-thinking concepts, has garnered high recognition from governments, industry institutions, and professionals worldwide. Liu offered the following suggestions to the Hongya delegation:
1.Actively seek support: Proactively seek backing from the Meishan Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government, and relevant departments of Sichuan Province during the bidding process.
2.Explore regional cooperation: Consider discussing a regional co-hosting model with neighboring mountain cities such as Leshan and Ya'an.
3.Submit application materials: Ensure the submission of all required application documents to the IMTA Secretariat by October 20th.
The meeting was also attended by Shen Xiaoqing, Deputy Director of the Hongya County Party Committee Office; Zhu Wei, Deputy Director of the Hongya County Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau; and Chen Liqin, Deputy General Manager of Mount Wawu Investment Co., Ltd.
