Issue 7 | The secretariat of IMTA attended training courses on capacity building of social organizations

23-25 March, hosted by China Association for the Promotion of International Exchanges of Non-governmental Organizations and China Federation of Voluntary Service, and organized by Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Sichuan Association for the Promotion of International Exchanges of Non-governmental Organizations. The training course on Capacity Building for social Organizations was themed "Making Good Use of the Consultative Status of the United Nations Economic and Social Council and Actively Participating in the Reform and Construction of the Global Governance System". It's in Chengdu. Xu Hongying, director of the International Liaison Department of the Alliance Secretariat, attended the training. Chen Zhou, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zhang Tao, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Association attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Yuan Zhibing, head of the Secretariat of the Association, presided over the opening ceremony. Nearly 100 social organizations and related units from all over the country attended the ceremony.

Lecturers focused on "The Importance and Significance of global Governance; How social organizations should abide by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and participate in the multilateral affairs of the United Nations; Systematic training was given to social organizations on how to enhance their attractiveness, appeal and influence, and how to play their five main roles as "builders of world peace, contributors to global development, maintainers of international order, providers of public goods and mediators of hotspot issues".

At the closing ceremony of the training, Xu Hongying, director of the International Liaison Department of IMTA Secretariat, as the speaker, made an exchange speech on the theme of "Though the road is far, the action will come" and around the theme of "three feelings, two inspirations and one conviction". She proposed to actively participate in the reform and construction of the global governance system in consultative status or through channels with more resources of the United Nations. We will go to overseas organizations to carry out medical, charity, cultural and travel exchanges and other activities that benefit the public, so as to promote people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative and implement the Global Civilization Initiative. Around "global governance" from the international community, institutional mechanisms and industry mission three aspects of the challenge analysis and countermeasures. It also systematically introduced the background, purpose, business area and related brand activities of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance since its establishment, the cooperation projects with the relevant organizations of the United Nations and the next work plan, and sent the invitation for cooperation and the theme event of 2023 "International Mountain Tourism Day" to the representatives of the participating organizations.
