Recently, Ctrip released the "May Day Holiday Travel Data Report," which shows that during this year’s May Day holiday, the domestic culture and tourism market experienced a strong recovery, showing a trend of "flourishing in multiple areas." The report indicates that the top ten popular domestic tourist destinations during the May Day holiday were: Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Shenzhen, and Xi'an. Long-distance travel destinations also performed exceptionally well, with ticket sales at scenic spots in regions such as Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Ningxia increasing by 1 to 2 times year-on-year. Families with children and those traveling with pets both saw significant growth; the self-driving tour market saw both an increase in volume and prices; cruise tourism made a strong comeback, with Ctrip’s booking volume soaring by 120% year-on-year. The integration of national trendy culture with tourism also had a significant impact, with many classic attractions offering free admission to those who recite relevant texts, resulting in a 30% increase in visitor traffic to these sites. "Reverse tourism" also contributed to the popularity of rural tourism, with bookings for B&Bs in Xinjiang reaching their peak two months ahead of the usual season. In addition, inbound tourism orders increased by 130% year-on-year, and agricultural experience activities as well as "shopping in China" became new favorite activities for foreign tourists. Fang Zeqian, an industry analyst at Ctrip Research Institute, stated that the data from the May Day holiday confirms that cultural and tourism consumption is shifting from "scale expansion" to "quality improvement." The rise of niche segments such as family and pet tourism, the integration of national trendy culture, and "reverse tourism" reflects the strong demand in the market for differentiated experiences.
