Recently, the board of directors of Club Med, a subsidiary of Fosun Tourism Group, announced the appointment of Stéphane Maquaire as the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, effective immediately.
Stéphane Maquaire graduated from École des Ponts ParisTech and began his career at Arthur Andersen. He subsequently joined the commercial real estate giant Unibail-Rodamco and later became part of the French mid-to-high-end supermarket chain Monoprix. During his leadership at Monoprix, he spearheaded a series of strategic transformations, including brand premiumization, digitalization, and sustainable development. He later served as CEO of the French Vivarte Group and then took the helm at Swiss retailer Manor before joining the Carrefour Group in 2019. As President and Executive Director of Carrefour Brazil and Latin America, he oversaw a business scale reaching €20 billion. During his tenure, he restructured the company’s business portfolio, completed the integration of Walmart’s operations in Brazil, expanded the discount format Atacadao, and implemented the company’s omnichannel strategy.
