The China-Nepal Comprehensive Tourism Support Service, jointly established by both countries, was officially launched on the evening of the 15th local time in Lalitpur of Kathmandu Valley. This project brings together Chinese professional institutions with Nepalese insurance providers, tourism companies, rescue services, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to create an interconnected information platform. Leveraging the Beidou global positioning and short message communication technologies, it aims to deliver faster and more precise rescue and insurance services to international travelers in Nepal, particularly trekkers and mountaineers worldwide.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song emphasized in his speech that the project represents a practical integration of commercial technology and people-to-people connectivity between the two nations. He noted that it not only builds a comprehensive safety net for global tourists visiting Nepal but also offers a "China-Nepal solution" featuring both technological support and commercial innovation for global high-altitude tourism safety governance.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) CEO Dhananjay Regmi stated that tourism serves as Nepal’s pillar industry, and this integrated rescue and insurance initiative addresses critical gaps in the country’s tourism support system. He expressed hope for sustained bilateral cooperation in this field to further boost Nepal’s tourism development.
Notably, this project marks the first landmark overseas commercial application of Beidou’s short message communication technology at scale and in a systematic manner.
