On November 27th, the 2024 Lancang-Mekong Tourism City Cooperation Alliance Exchange Event, co-hosted by the International Exchange and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee, and the People's Government of Jiangbei District, Chongqing, was grandly held in Chongqing. Approximately 200 guests, including representatives from member cities, leading enterprises, industry associations, relevant international organizations, media outlets, and experts and scholars from the six Lancang-Mekong countries, gathered to jointly explore new opportunities and futures for Lancang-Mekong tourism cooperation. This exchange event aimed to strengthen tourism exchange and cooperation within the Lancang-Mekong region, further promote the deep and practical development of the alliance, and facilitate the integrated development of Lancang-Mekong tourism.

The Lancang-Mekong River, stretching 4,880 kilometers and flowing through six countries, nourishing a land area of 810,000 square kilometers, is not only a gift of nature but also a bond of friendship and cooperation among the six countries. Since the initiation of Lancang-Mekong cooperation, consensus has been reached at various Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meetings, leading to the establishment of the Lancang-Mekong Tourism City Cooperation Alliance within the framework of the cooperation mechanism.
