At the 2023 ECI FESTIVAL International Digital Innovation Festival, one of the four major innovation festivals in the world, Huazhu Group won the ECI Awards - Enterprise ESG Practice Innovation Award for its "modular construction solution" that helps reduce carbon emissions.

For hotels, the construction process has always been a "disaster area" for pollution, not only producing a large amount of construction waste, but also generating a lot of noise and dust pollution during the construction process. In response to this problem, Huazhu Group has made full use of its supply chain advantages and creatively introduced a "modular" construction method.
Based on the functions of various facilities and equipment within the hotel, Huazhu Supply Chain has modularized the walls, ceilings, floors, overall sanitary ware, furniture, and other components. Using new environmentally friendly materials and advanced technology such as ABS mold injection molding, it has achieved mass production, thereby reducing procurement prices, helping franchisees control costs, shortening construction cycles, and reducing pollution during the construction process.
Innovate "green living" and implement the concept of green development
In exploring the path of "green" hotels, Huazhu Group has also innovated environmental protection systems based on its own business advantages and released the "Green Stay" service brand. Through the Huazhu Club APP, guests who book the hotel's Haiyou Hotel can participate in "Green Stay" related activities. Guests can waive unnecessary services such as breakfast booking, towels and bath towels, and cleaning for extended stays based on their individual needs, and receive a corresponding amount of reduction on top of the room rate.
If you need corresponding services temporarily after arriving at the hotel, you can simply make up the corresponding difference to resume the service. The "Green Stay" model not only takes into account the diverse needs of guests, but also increases efforts to guide a low-carbon lifestyle by reducing or waiving the check-in fee.
The hotel industry is highly dependent on natural resources and human resources, so it has higher requirements and greater potential in environmental protection and social responsibility. As one of the largest hotel chains in China, Huazhu Group adheres to the concept of sustainable development and has innovated its own characteristics in the field of ESG green carbon reduction.
