The Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH has determined the direction of the development of self-operated cableways through research and development of its own self-operated cableway (referred to as AURO Cableway). Since the successful application of the unmanned self-operated gondola cableway (referred to as AURO-MGD) in 2020, the demand for products has continued to grow, but AURO technology has not previously been involved in the field of gondola cableways.

Today, the issuance of the operating license for the autonomous operation of the Swiss and Austrian unmanned chair lift (referred to as AURO-CLD) has completely changed this situation. The Swiss Federal Office of Transport (BAV) and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMK) have issued operating licenses for AURO-CLD, and the two chair lifts have been approved for autonomous operation starting in the winter of 2023/24.
