On November 22, the Information Office of the Provincial Government held the fifth press conference of the 2023-2024 Snow Season series in Jilin Province.
Person in charge of the Changbai Mountain Management Committee, said that with the continuous upgrading, changes, and development of tourism demand and supply in Changbai Mountain, the winter closure of Changbai Mountain has long become a thing of the past, presenting a new phenomenon of tourism developing in all four seasons, with no closure in any season and only fun in all seasons.
This new scene of tourism developing comprehensively in all four seasons is thriving. In particular, Changbai Mountain ice and snow tourism is showing great vitality and entering a new stage of high-quality development. In the first quarter of this year, Changbai Mountain Scenic Area received 194,900 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 423.92% compared to 2022 and an increase of 14.92% compared to the best year in 2019. Since October this year, Changbai Mountain Scenic Area has received 276,000 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 203.3% compared to 2022 and an increase of 11.57% compared to 2019.
The 2023-2024 ice and snow tourism season has begun. The Changbai Mountain Management Committee will comprehensively implement the decision and deployment of the provincial government to build a tourism trillion-dollar industry, consolidate and upgrade existing tourism projects and products, enhance their quality and connotation, and at the same time, address weaknesses and develop strengths, innovate and create new products, services, and industries, carefully craft the "Changbai Mountain in Snow" cultural tourism main IP, meticulously organize the Changbai Mountain powder snow festival series of activities, and continuously improve and develop "four seasons" and "six products".
The specific "four seasons" are:
Snow-covered mountain hot spring season. Relying on the natural resource endowment of hot spring resources in Changbai Mountain, we will cultivate the brand of "Changbai Mountain Snow-covered Hot Spring" and carry out activities such as web celebrity discovery, travel agency touring, experience promotion, allowing more tourists to feel the new wonder of "hot and cold" in Changbai Mountain.
Winter sports season. Relying on the natural endowment of ice and snow in the "gold latitude belt" in Changbai Mountain, we will hold brand events such as the Changbai Mountain Forest Sea Snowfield Crossing Conference, Climbing Ice Conference, New Year Climbing Fitness Conference, and Ice Marathon; we will also host the 2024 International Ski Federation snowboarding slope obstacle skills, freestyle slope obstacle skills, snowboarding U-shaped venue, and freestyle U-shaped venue Asian Cup events. In addition, the Changbai Mountain Peace Ski Field and Hongsongwang Ski Field have officially opened on November 15th. All ski enthusiasts are welcome to come and experience them.
Snow town food season. Relying on the food culture of ethnic groups such as Korean and Manchu in Changbai Mountain, we will provide tourists with characteristic catering services. We will upgrade commercial areas such as the Snow Flake Flower Ice Theme Park, Cloud Top Market Winter Edition, and Changbai Wanshang pedestrian street, launch special catering products such as roasting tea around a stove, ice hot pot, and food festival; we will also hold a series of activities for the 2023-2024 Changbai Ice and Snow Food Festival. Among them is an evaluation for "Changbai Mountain characteristic catering stores", which will allow us to organize catering service enterprises to carry out promotional activities to meet the food needs of tourists.
China-France cultural season. Relying on the opportunity of the 2024 China-France Cultural Tourism Year, we will hold activities such as the "Changbai Mountain - Mont Blanc" winter tourism symposium "Gathering at Two Peaks for Green Development", and the Changbai Mountain International Ski Mountaineering Challenge Race to expand the international influence of ice and snow tourism.
Based on the above "four seasons" and adhering to the concept of "product leadership", the following six ice and snow tourism products (namely "six products") will be launched:
Skiing products - savor the joy of powder snow. Changbai Mountain is known as one of the three major powder snow bases in the world, along with the Alps in Europe and the Rockies in North America. Its "powder snow" appears in a fine powder state, with little moisture content, full and elastic particles, which are perfect for skiing, playing in the snow, and enjoying the snow. The Changbai Mountain Management Committee will continue to cultivate the "12-degree powder snow, a warm meeting" brand, giving full play to the advantages of the joint ski resorts and ski resorts having long periods of calm winds, operating high-standard ski resorts such as Ping and Hongsongwang, meeting the needs of tourists and skiers.
Hot spring products - savor the warmth of hot springs. Hot springs and ice and snow are two major "fist" products in Changbai Mountain in winter. The Changbai Mountain Management Committee will focus on creating the "Changbai Mountain Snow Hot Spring" brand, uniting resources and products such as皇冠、蓝景、临溪、天沐 hot spring resources and products, forming the Changbai Mountain Hot Spring Hotel Alliance, improving the management service quality connotation of the hot spring industry to meet tourists' need for rest and recuperation.
Drifting products - savor the wonder of drifting. Changbai Mountain not only has several rivers that are not frozen all year round, but also has the miraculous phenomenon of rime created by heaven, forming a beautiful scene of drifting and appreciating rime in winter. The Changbai Mountain Management Committee will launch drifting products such as the Songhua River, providing safe, novel, and happy new experiences for tourists.
Snow play products - savor the joy of snow play. The Erbaihe Powder Snow Town will be carefully built around the Meiren Pine Street area and the Snow Flower Concert Hall. Products such as roasting tea around a stove, snow hot pot, street snow play, ice fishing, Snow Fort Town, and ice entertainment will be launched to meet tourists' needs for shopping, snow play, and travel photos.
Sports products - savor the pleasure of sports. The Changbai Mountain Management Committee will introduce snow valley hiking, snowmobile crossings, ice and snow car drifting, mass climbing ice, cross-country skiing, street skiing, skating and other feature ice and snow sports products to meet tourists' need for healthy exercise.
Performing arts products - savor the elegance of performing arts. The Changbai Mountain Legend Flight Experience Hall (the only project in Jilin province selected as one of the first batch of national intelligent tourism immersive experience new spaces to cultivate pilot projects, with only 24 projects nationwide) will be opened to allow tourists to experience the changes of Changbai Mountain in all four seasons through a 6-degree-of-freedom flight experience. The first immersive live performance project "Pink Snow Legend" in Jilin province will be launched at the end of the year, allowing tourists to further understand the charm of Changbai Mountain powder snow culture.
The Changbai Mountain snow and ice tourism season cannot be separated from the support and linkage of neighboring cities. The Changbai Mountain Management Committee will strengthen regional cooperation, coordination, and linkage in "Greater Changbai Mountain", enhance service guarantees, and hold "Greater Changbai Mountain" ice-snow tourism development momentum.
Currently, the Changbai Mountain Management Committee has cultivated and opened direct flight routes to key regions and cities such as the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Pearl River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing, implementing 20 routes during the snow season serving 17 cities; 54 bus routes have been opened connecting Changbai Mountain with neighboring areas. 16 tourist shuttle bus routes have been opened for connections between Changbai Mountain Airport, Changbai Mountain high-speed rail station and main scenic spots as well as other scenic spots such as Yanji Dinosaur Kingdom, Baishahu Lake Scenic Area, and Lu'an Lake Hunting Ground. A more perfect internal transportation system has been established to better meet tourists' travel needs. In addition, joint patrol mechanisms for law enforcement have been established with neighboring counties and cities as well as joint patrols with scenic spots such as scenic spots, hot springs, and ski resorts to provide tourists with a more standardized tourist market order as well as more caring services and comfortable travel experiences.
