The 2023 China (Alshan) Tourism Conference, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Xinhua News Agency and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, opened in Alshan city, Inner Mongolia on Sept 2. At the opening ceremony, 19 ski tourism resorts were awarded the national ski tourism resort license, and 19 representatives of ski tourism resorts from 10 provinces and municipalities participated in the awarding ceremony.
In recent years, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the General Administration of Sport of the State have continuously expanded the supply of high-quality tourism products, created high-level ski sports facilities and high-quality tourism and holiday services, and identified and launched two batches of 19 national ski tourism resorts in 2022 and 2023 respectively according to the industry standard of "Classification of Ski Tourism Resorts".
According to reports, the national ski tourism resorts rely on the counties (districts) where they are located to build high-level ski sports facilities and high-quality tourism and vacation services, provide tourists with new options for ice and snow tourism, and meet the consumption demand of ski vacations; At the same time, we will promote the upgrading of the ice and snow industry and promote local economic and social development.
"We will take this conference and award as an opportunity to deeply implement the concept of 'two mountains', make every effort to build a city of ice and snow, a city of sports, and a resort, and contribute Altai's strength to the high-quality development of national tourism!" Participating in the awarding ceremony, Xinjiang Altay Municipal Party Committee deputy secretary, government mayor Jaynes Khan Hulslow said.

In recent years, China's ice and snow sports have developed vigorously. Under the influence of the Beijing Winter Olympics, more and more Chinese people fall in love with ice and snow sports, and "driving 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports" is no longer just a slogan. In addition to the popularity of ice and snow sports in the relatively cold climate in the north, a large number of indoor ice and snow sports venues have emerged in the south, and people in the north and south, especially teenagers, have participated in ice and snow sports.
The development of ice and snow sports cannot be separated from the strong support of national policies. In 2021, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the General Administration of Sport jointly issued the Action Plan for the Development of Snow and Ice Tourism (2021-2023), which will "develop the snow and ice tourism market healthily and rapidly, create a number of high-quality snow and ice themed tourism resorts, launch a number of ski tourism resorts, and significantly increase the number of participants in snow and ice tourism." The scale of consumption has been significantly expanded."
According to the China Tourism Academy Ice and snow Tourism special survey released in 2023, 64% of the consumers who participated in the survey plan to carry out snow and ice leisure tourism activities, 60.3% will increase the number of snow and ice leisure tourism this year, of which 40.7% are willing to carry out long-distance snow and ice tourism, 55.6% are willing to carry out short-distance snow and ice tourism activities.
