Straddling the provinces of Fujian and Jiangxi, the Wuyi Mountain National Park stands as a trove for biodiversity conservation and a refuge for a large number of ancient, relict species, many of them endemic to China.

Covering an area of around 1,280 square kilometers, the park is home to the largest, most complete and most representative example of subtropical forests, compared with other areas of the world on the same line of latitude.

Wuyi Mountain was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List in 1999, and the area was officially designated a national park in 2021.
