Muji, the highest volcanic crater in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, shines like a pearl on the Pamir Plateau. Formed 1,500 years ago, it is the only volcanic crater in the region at a high altitude, and also one of the most typical craters of its kind in the world. Set against the backdrop of stunning natural scenery, this dormant volcanic crater is surrounded by glaciers, glacial lakes, mountains and wetlands.
