The water town of Wuzhen in Tongxiang, Zhejiang province, unveiled its two-month-long spring carnival on April 1, featuring a series of cultural activities that combine traditional folk culture with chic art.
During the carnival, tourists can wear hanfu - a traditional Chinese style of clothing - while picnicking at the outdoor area full of spring blossoms, enjoy traditional tea art and take photos.
Lots of local activities will be staged, including a market on boats, a boat parade decorated with lanterns, acrobatic performances, blessing ceremonies at multiple temples and a food market.
An art show featuring young sculpture artists will be held during the carnival. It will last from April 11 to May 31.
When dusk arrives, visitors can also enjoy a vibrant night market featuring performances of folk art, delicious local cuisine and a magnificent view of the ancient water town.
Wuzhen has a history of more than 1,000 years. It is located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and boasts lots of ancient-style houses and bridges.
