Northern Inner Mongolia autonomous region has launched 10 winter routes in a bid to satisfy the nation's growing appetite for fun in the snow and ice. The autonomous region is fortunate in its makeup that it can gather practically every possible winter scenario, with its vast frozen grassland, far-reaching mountain ranges and hot springs. The rivers, lakes, desert and forests all make for a distinctive winter landscape, while folk celebrations, such as the Nadam fair, winter carnivals and winter fishing, promise to add spice to travelers' experiences.

Ski contest
Pay a visit to the Hulunbuir Ethnic Museum to better understand local history and folk customs of the city, before heading for the municipal winter sport training center to watch skiing competitions, curling and ice hockey matches. At the city's Yakeshi Fenghuang Mountain Ski Resort, various programs offering winter fun, including bobsled and snow tubing, have been prepared for visitors to enjoy.
Gourmet food
Along the route, travelers can enjoy exotic and diverse cuisines from across the autonomous region. Mongolian and Russian flavors can be found in Hulunbuir, while fresh mushroom and other mountain delicacies are served at Arxan, Hinggan League. Feasts featuring dishes of local meats are available at Baotou and Ordos. Roast mutton and camel rib banquets are waiting for visitors in Alshaa League.

There are many places in the vast lands of Inner Mongolia worth being recorded on camera, including the Japanese-styled train station in Arxan and the gorgeous sunrise at the nearby national forest. The Nadam fair in Hailaar, primitive forest in Olguya Ewenki ethnic township, water splashing fun at Genhe's Lengji village and Russian elements in Manzhouli, all provide lens worthy content.
